Job Title: Chef/Kitchen Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Reports To: Senior Director of Finance 

Salary Range: $56,500-$65,000 annual salary

We execute our unique and original product line with the highest quality ingredients, a state-of-the-art brewing system, and the latest brewing practices. We strive to create meaningful relationships and memorable experiences with adventurous craft beverages from our taproom in Greeley and through our expansive distribution network.

As the Chef/Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations ensuring the preparation and presentation of consistent, high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.  Your leadership and organizational skills will be pivotal in creating a well-functioning and efficient kitchen environment.

As our Chef/Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for: 

  1. Leading the Team:

    • Supervise and coach Line Cooks and Shift Leads through clear communication of expectations and regular interactions

    • Provide prompt feedback regarding any performance or behavioral issues as well as supportive encouragement for improvements and success 

    • Work in conjunction with the Taproom Manager to maintain clear communication and teamwork between kitchen and taproom teams

    • Establish and maintain expectations of beer/food knowledge and provide regular training opportunities to ensure staff can speak authoritatively about products, history, and operations

    • In partnership with the HR Team, assist in hiring, onboarding, and when necessary termination of kitchen staff.

  2. Menu, Quality, and Cost Control: 

    • Ensure all best practices are followed, including execution of recipes, training and safety protocols

    • Collaborate with the Director of Experience for overall concept and execution of menu development

    • Manage food costs by monitoring inventory levels, portion control, and waste reduction.

    • Address customer feedback and resolve any kitchen-related concerns promptly.

  3. Food Safety and Sanitation

    • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations

    • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization is maintained

    • Oversee proper storage, handling, and labeling of food items.

  4. Managing Operations:

    • Create weekly kitchen staff schedules to optimize labor costs while meeting operational demands.

    • Develop and continually evolve all training processes and SOPs to align with changing processes, procedures, and service models

    • Determine and be adaptive to labor needs as dictated by data and observation and assist with all hiring and termination processes

    • Maintain a kitchen budget and understand financial objectives as they relate to overall brewery goals

1.  Crafting the Environment:

  • Advanced knowledge of and a passion for flavors and ingredient-inspired cooking

  • Advanced knowledge of all health department regulations and food safety guidelines

  • Advanced ability in utilizing all forms of cooking equipment

  • Passion for continual development of sensory evaluation of ingredients and finished products

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Strong math skills and ability to use a POS system (experience with Toast a plus)

  • Proficient in standard document and spreadsheet programs

  • At least two years of relevant kitchen experience, with management experience preferred

2.  Personal Competencies:

  • ServSafe Manager Certified

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Communicate effectively with guests, management and co-workers

  • Remaining calm under pressure while performing at a high level when cooking, running a shift and dealing with guests or staff

  • Be a strong and trusting team leader

  • Maintain relationships with outside groups and vendors

  • Strong problem solving skills

3.  Supervision:

  • Uses independent action in setting objectives and deciding how to proceed

  • Duties are given in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility

4.  Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements:

  • Work weekends and evenings

  • Work in a standing position for long periods of time

  • Frequently lift up to 55 pounds
