Job Title: Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Sr. Director of Engineering

Pay Rate: $60,000 - $70,000 per year (includes monthly tip pool)

We execute our unique and original product line with the highest quality ingredients, state-of-the-art brewing systems, and the latest brewing practices. Get to know this role:

The maintenance manager is a cornerstone of all of our production and retail operations, a technical expert, trainer and role model for the entire team. In addition to overseeing the routine maintenance goals of the brewery, the maintenance manager acts as a coach, leader, and mentor to the production and packaging teams. We invest a lot of time, training, and education in our leaders and we expect the leaders to do the same with their teams. The maintenance manager is responsible for developing the skills and self-reliance of co-workers through relationships, communication, trust, and education.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Appropriately prioritize all maintenance tasks and proactively communicate status and timelines

  2. Manage and execute all production equipment preventive maintenance in coordination with the Head Brewer and equipment operators

  3. Perform reactive troubleshooting/repairs and identify opportunities to prevent future failures

  4. Coordinate all necessary facility/building maintenance activities

  5. Manage the scheduling and work of contractors as necessary

  6. Follow all relevant safety programs and procedures

  7. Maintain accurate and up to date records of all maintenance activities

  8. Utilize CMMS tools for work planning and parts management

  9. Assist with planning and implementation of capital projects

  10. Coordinate approved equipment modifications

  11. Develop documentation/SOPs for all relevant maintenance and repair activities

  12. Effectively train coworkers on any applicable maintenance procedures

  13. Analyze downtime reports and repair trends and adjust plans accordingly

  14. Available on call for maintenance advice/repairs


Job Specifications: 
  1. Skill and Knowledge:
    • Exceptional mechanical aptitude 
    •  Knowledge of safety procedures including LOTO, confined space entry, working at heights, electrical safety, chemical hazards, etc. 
    •  Experience with equipment commonly found in breweries ideally including: 
      •  Pumps (centrifugal and PD) 
      •  Conveying systems, belts, pulleys, bearings, etc. 
      •  Plumbed utilities (CO2, pneumatic, glycol, steam) and associated equipment (vaporizer, compressor, chiller, boiler) 
      •  Centrifuge, pasteurizer, brewhouse, packaging lines, keg cleaners 
      •  PLC/24v troubleshooting experience 
    •  Fabrication and welding experience desired 
    •  Heavy equipment rigging and lifting knowledge is a plus 
    •  Computerized Maintenance Management System experience
  2. Personal Competencies:

  3. Supervision:
    • This role does not currently have direct reports and generally operates independently
    • Supervision of contractor activities is frequently required
    • Uses independent action in setting objectives and deciding how to proceed
    • Duties are given in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility
    • Use company applications to communicate and update other employees 
  4. Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements:
    • Work weekdays, weekends, early mornings and/or evenings when necessary
    • Work in a standing, kneeling or prone position for long periods of time
    • Ability to work in heat, cold and wet
    • Able to work from elevated surfaces and confined spaces
    • Physically able and willing to drive a forklift with training
    • Ability to lift up to 120 lbs
    • Request time off two weeks in advance
    • A driver’s license and reliable transportation are required

Compensation Details: 

This position qualifies to participate in the company tip pool.  Tips are pooled and paid out on a monthly basis for all eligible positions.
