Job Title:  Maintenance and Safety Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To:  Director of Strategic Initiatives

Salary Range: Roughly $55,000 - $65,000, based on experience

WeldWerks Brewing is a fast growing, locally owned and operated craft brewery in historic downtown Greeley, Colorado. The maintenance and safety manager will act as a member of the production and packaging crew, a technical expert, trainer and role model for the rest of the team. In addition to overseeing the routine maintenance and safety goals of the brewery, the maintenance and safety manager will act as a coach, leader, and mentor to the production and packaging teams. We invest a lot of time, training, and education in our leaders and we expect the leaders to do the same with their teams. The maintenance and safety manager is responsible for developing the skills and self-reliance of co-workers through relationships, communication, trust, and education.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Help to shape a culture with a strong focus on safety and compliance on the production floor
  2. Manage all production equipment preventive maintenance scheduling and execution in coordination with production manager and equipment operators
  3. Perform reactive troubleshooting/repairs and identify opportunities to prevent future failures
  4. Maintain accurate and up to date records of all maintenance activities
  5. Analyze downtime reports and repair trends and make recommendations
  6. Coordinate all necessary facility/building maintenance activities
  7. Assist with planning and implementation of capital projects
  8. Manage the scheduling and work of contractors as necessary
  9. Coordinate approved equipment modifications
  10. Develop documentation/SOPs for all relevant maintenance and repair activities
  11. Available on call for maintenance advice/repairs
  12. Act as company safety champion and lead the safety committee
  13. Leverage in-house resources and consultants to implement and maintain relevant safety programs and procedures (LOTO, confined space, working at heights, electrical safety, etc.)
  14. Effectively train coworkers on any applicable maintenance and safety procedures

Job Specification:

  1. Skill and Knowledge:
    1. Exceptional mechanical aptitude
    2. Experience with maintenance of equipment commonly found in breweries
      1. Pumps (centrifugal and PD)
      2. Conveying systems, belts, pulleys, bearings, etc.
      3. Plumbed utilities (CO2, pneumatic, glycol, steam) and associated equipment (vaporizer, compressor, chiller, boiler)
      4. Centrifuge, pasteurizer, brewhouse, packaging lines
      5. PLC/24v troubleshooting experience
    3. Sanitary stainless welding experience 
    4. Computerized Maintenance Management System experience
    5. Excellent verbal and written communication
    6. Excellent work ethic and can do attitude
    7. Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork

  4. Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements:
    1. Work weekdays, weekends, early mornings and/or evenings
    2. Work in a standing position for long periods of time
    3. Request time off two weeks in advance
    4. Ability to lift up to 120 lbs
    5. Ability to work in heat, cold and wet
    6. Physically able and willing to drive a forklift with training
    7. Able to work from elevated surfaces
